Lanrick House is a 23-bedded residential home located in the historic market town of Rugeley, Staffordshire. As a registered care provider, we specialise in providing a full range of person-centred care services to elderly frail Service Users, those living with dementia and associated forms of the condition. Our admission provision includes (but is not limited to) trial stays, short stay/respite care, as well as long-term care, in a homely and welcoming environment.
Lanrick House was acquired by Trust Care Management Ltd in 2015 and has since been building on a growing reputation among local authorities and the wider care community for providing a high quality of care and services to its Service Users. Since taking over from the previous owners, we have completely refurbished the building, allowing the home to offer a tasteful blend of modern facilities whilst retaining many of the original period features of its Georgian heritage. The home features two large, well presented lounges (both unique in their style and decor), spacious dining room, a retro style drawing room where Service Users can enjoy quality time with their family, participate in specific activities and host small family functions. We also have a hairdresser’s room, well equipped kitchen, a laundry facility and a number of communal bathroom facilities designed to accommodate the needs of our Service Users.
Our 23 luxurious and fully furnished bedrooms, 13 of which have en-suites with showers, are beautifully appointed with many enjoying direct views to our garden. We encourage our Service Users and their families to personalise their rooms to make them feel more homely.
At Lanrick House, we appreciate that choosing to live in a care home can often be a difficult decision for an individual and their family. That is why we spare no effort in ensuring that prospective Service Users and their families are supported throughout the process, initially in assisting them to make an informed choice relating to their stay with us, and subsequently ensuring the transition is as smooth as possible. During our comprehensive pre-admission assessments (conducted by the Registered Manager), we establish the needs of potential Service Users through consultation and involvement of family members and other professionals, as directed by the individual.
We understand the importance of people wanting a quality of life, as they become less-abled through ageing or ill health, hence the reason we put our Service Users at the heart of everything we do.
Our personalised, holistic, integrated approach to care planning and delivery ensures that each Service User is treated as an individual with specific needs and aspirations in life. Within the home, we promote an inclusive environment with a sense of community living and a culture of tolerance and mutual respect, both among Service Users and staff. We have an open-door policy for families and friends to visit as we believe this is the Service Users’ home. We listening to the views, suggestions, feedback, complaints, compliments and concerns, which are paramount to our drive for continuous improvement. The Home’s motto ‘Our Service Users do not live in our workplace, we work in their home’ reflects the vivid endorsement of our staff in upholding Service User rights by treating them with dignity and respect.
As a care organisation, we consider our human resources to be a vital cog in the machine that drives our aspirations to excellence in care. We employ staff not only for their expertise and qualification but also for their warmth, sensitivity and compassionate nature. We provide them with appropriate training and opportunities for continuous development, but most importantly we work hard to instil in them the ethos which encapsulates the essence of quality care in promoting choice for our Service Users, maintaining their independence, treating them with dignity and respect and upholding their rights within a professional, yet friendly environment. We recognise that effective care and support requires a multidisciplinary approach, therefore we work closely with a network of health and social care professionals to promote and maintain Service User’s good health and well-being.
We offer a wide range of culinary choices and Service Users can either dine in our luxurious dining room or have their meals in the privacy of their own rooms. We provide delicious and nutritious homemade meals presented in a way that appeals. We design our menus to meet the nutritional and dietary needs and preferences of our Service Users, and always consult with them and/or their relatives for their valued input during the seasonal review of our menus. We promote ‘The Eat well Guide’ that defines the Government’s advice on the types and portions of food people need for a healthy and well-balanced diet. Our chef welcomes the opportunity to discuss menu choices/preferences with Service Users, and is always willing to ‘walk the extra mile’ to ensure that all Service Users have a pleasant dining experience.
Although we employ the services of a dedicated Activities organiser, we train our staff to embrace the notion that activities are an integral part of the daily living process which is essential for good quality of life. Care staff encourage our Service Users to maintain their living skills by supporting their participation in day to day activities that are safe and within their physical/mental capabilities, promoting long term independence and re-enablement. Such activities may include setting up the dining room table after meals, folding/sorting clean linen from the laundry, fetching newspapers from the local newsagent, gardening and much more. By contrast, the Activity organiser adopts a more focused approach with the aim to deliver a more structured activities program designed to stimulate the minds and body of our Service Users through a range of physical, social, sensory, therapeutic and recreational activities. Our indoor activity plan includes (but is not limited to) arts and crafts, exercise sessions, flower arrangement, quizzes and scrabble games, personalised birthday parties, festive and commemorative celebrations, outside entertainers, visits etc. Outdoor activities include gardening, trips to the local town centre, shopping days, visits to local garden centres, summer barbecues, summertime picnics etc.
