Frequently Asked Question

What age range do your children’s homes support?

Our children’s homes — Eden Residential Care and Lorac Lodge — provide care for children and young people. Each home is Ofsted-registered and designed to support children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, learning disabilities, and complex care needs, including those whose backgrounds may include neglect or abuse.

Both homes are deliberately small. Eden Residential Care in Chelmsford accommodates up to 4 children, each in their own self-contained two-bedroom flat. The second bedroom in each flat is designed around the child’s individual needs — it might be set up as a sensory room, a study, a playroom, or a quiet room. Lorac Lodge in Whittlesey, Peterborough, is similarly small-scale, providing a modern, home-like environment.

Yes. Eden Residential Care is specifically designed to accommodate children who may be suited to solo placements, including those with complex needs or challenging behaviour who benefit from a more individualised living arrangement. The self-contained flat layout makes this possible while still providing the structure and support of a registered care home.

Our children’s homes focus on person-centred care that is effective, caring, reliable, consistent, responsive, and safe. We work to build positive, meaningful relationships with each child by involving them in informed decision-making and being open and transparent with them. The aim is to create an environment the young person would actually choose to live in — one that supports their health, well-being, and potential for positive outcomes. Every child’s care plan is built around their individual journey, strengths, and goals.

Yes. Both Eden Residential Care and Lorac Lodge are registered with and inspected by Ofsted. Inspection reports are available on our website under “Ofsted Reports” and on the Ofsted website. Our care aligns with Ofsted’s standards for the effectiveness of care and protection, quality of leadership, and continuous improvement.
