Our Therapeutic Framework
At Eden Residential, our care is built around a therapeutic, trauma-informed framework that recognises the profound impact of early experiences, disrupted attachment, and neurodiversity on a child’s emotional wellbeing and behaviour. We understand that many children placed at Eden have experienced significant adversity, and our approach is designed to meet them with understanding, patience, and consistency.
Our practice is underpinned by P.A.C.E. (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy), attachment theory, and trauma-informed care. We view behaviour as a form of communication and seek to understand the underlying need rather than simply manage the behaviour itself. By responding with empathy, emotional attunement, and clear, nurturing boundaries, we support children to feel safe, respected, and emotionally contained.
Eden’s unique solo-flat model allows for highly personalised, person-centred care. Each child benefits from an environment tailored to their individual sensory needs, emotional regulation, and developmental stage, reducing stress and promoting a sense of control, privacy, and safety. This model is particularly effective for children who may struggle in shared living environments or require a lower-stimulus setting to thrive.
Our therapeutic approach is embedded in everyday care, not delivered as a separate intervention. Staff are supported through reflective practice, supervision, and ongoing development to ensure they feel confident in applying therapeutic principles consistently. This enables staff to respond calmly and thoughtfully, helping children to build trust, develop emotional regulation skills, and experience positive, reliable relationships.
Through this approach, Eden provides a calm, predictable, and nurturing environment where children can begin to heal from past experiences, build resilience, and work towards positive and sustainable outcomes. Our aim is not only to meet children’s immediate needs, but to equip them with the emotional foundations and support they need to move forward with confidence.
