Lorac Lodge

Our Therapeutic, Person-Centred Approach

Lorac Lodge is a therapeutic children’s and young people’s home providing highly individualised, person-centred care for up to 4 (four) children who have experienced trauma, abuse, and disrupted attachment. We recognise that no two children are the same, and our support is shaped around each child’s unique history, needs, strengths, and aspirations.

Our practice is underpinned by P.A.C.E., trauma-informed care, and attachment theory, ensuring that children are supported with empathy, consistency, and emotional safety. We focus on understanding the meaning behind behaviour, responding in ways that promote trust, emotional regulation, and long-term resilience.

We are supported by an experienced therapeutic practitioner with a background in working with Looked After Children, bringing specialist insight into the complexities and demands of caring for vulnerable and hard-to-reach children and young people. Working directly with both children and staff, our psychologist provides accessible, tailored therapeutic input that encourages engagement and is adapted to the individual child. This approach helps translate therapeutic understanding into everyday care, strengthening staff confidence and consistency.

A Home Designed Around the Child

Lorac Lodge has been carefully designed to feel modern yet homely, offering warmth, stability, and a strong sense of safety. The home layout balances privacy with shared spaces that promote positive relationships and a sense of belonging. A secure garden allows children and young people to play, relax, and regulate safely within the home environment.

High Aspirations, Real Outcomes

We hold high aspirations for every child living at Lorac Lodge. We support children to develop emotionally, socially, and personally, celebrating all achievements—big and small. Our aim is to help children feel secure, valued, and confident, while encouraging independence, self-belief, and positive futures.

Our management and staff team operate within a culture of high ambition and reflective practice, modelling positive relationships and resilience. This creates an environment where children are supported to grow, heal, and achieve their full potential.

Commitment to Quality and Excellence

Our model has been informed by learning from outstanding services across the sector. From this, we have developed our Minimum Requirements for Excellence, which underpin everything we do. These standards continue to evolve as we reflect, learn, and refine our practice—ensuring we deliver consistently high-quality, therapeutic, and child-centred care.

Words From The Manager

I am a Registered Manager with extensive experience in residential childcare, supporting children and young people with complex needs, trauma histories, and neurodiversity. My practice is rooted in a therapeutic, relationship-based approach, focused on creating environments where children feel emotionally safe, understood, and supported to heal and thrive.

My leadership is underpinned by trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and the principles of P.A.C.E. I believe that behaviour is a form of communication and that meaningful change occurs when children experience consistent, attuned relationships with adults who are calm, reflective, and emotionally available. I place strong emphasis on reflective supervision, clinical insight, and ongoing staff development to ensure care remains therapeutic in both intention and delivery.

Safeguarding sits at the heart of my role and is embedded within a culture of curiosity, learning, and shared responsibility. I am committed to developing confident, well-supported teams who feel empowered to think therapeutically, respond compassionately, and maintain clear, safe boundaries. Collaborative working with families, professionals, and therapeutic services is central to achieving positive and sustained outcomes for young people.

I am driven by continuous improvement and high standards, ensuring services meet and exceed regulatory expectations while remaining genuinely child-centred. My aim is to create homes where children feel secure and valued, staff feel supported and reflective, and therapeutic change is not only possible but embedded in everyday care.
