Overview

Philia Lodge is situated in the heart of Peterborough within easy access of the city centre and local amenities.

Our home is registered to provide personal care and support that is tailored to a variety of Service Users’ needs.  Services are provided by our friendly, professional staff team who attend regular internal and external training to maintain their competence.

We provide a full range of person centred care services to older people who may be frail, some of whom may be living with Dementia. Our admission provision includes (but is not limited to) trial stays, short stay/respite care, as well as long-term care, in a homely and welcoming environment. The home also boasts a safe enclosed garden and seating areas for Service Users and their guests.   The conservatory and decking area are user friendly, and our Service Users enjoy using these areas throughout the year.

Our Service Users are involved in their meal planning, giving them a choice of freshly prepared nutritious home-made food and baking.  We support people with their individual dietary requirements, and we promote ‘The eat-well plate’ policy tool that defines the Government’s recommendations on the types and portions of food people need for a healthy and well-balanced diet. Our Service Users are given the choice to eat their meals in either the dining room or in the privacy of their own bedroom.

Our staff provide services to people of all faiths and we strive to meet all Service Users’ spiritual and cultural needs. Prior to admission we encourage people to visit the home, meet other Service Users, our friendly staff team and the Registered Manager prior to making an informed decision on where to live.

We have a dedicated Activities coordinator, who provides tailored activities for each Service User.  In consultation with Service Users, the Activities coordinator agrees social and recreational events which creates a stimulating environment for them.

Although our bedrooms are fully furnished, the decor may be changed to suit the Service Users’ specific needs and preference. We encourage Service Users to bring in their own possessions or small items of furniture should they wish to personalise their rooms.  We have an open-door policy for family and friends to visit and become involved in the daily lives and activities of the home.

Effective care and support require a multidisciplinary approach.  Therefore, we work closely with a network of health and social care professionals to promote and maintain Service Users’ good health and well-being.

The city centre is a 15-minute walk away from the home, alternatively a regular bus service runs directly to the city centre, with a bus stop 250 yards away from the facility.  There is a main line railway service to central London that is easily accessible, and only a 5-10-minute drive away from the home.
